3. The Back 3

United’s back three – Lisandro Martínez, Harry Maguire, and Mathias de Ligt – were at their best against Arsenal, and it was exactly what the team needed to secure a result.

All three battled tirelessly, competing for every ball and showing immense resilience.

Their efforts were epitomised by de Ligt’s stunning goal-line clearance, which prevented a certain Arsenal goal.

After facing recent criticism, this performance was a testament to their quality and determination, and they fully deserved the victory.

4. Amorim Substitutions

Ruben Amorim’s substitutions were pivotal in Manchester United’s victory over Arsenal.

Bringing on Joshua Zirkzee for the struggling Rasmus Hojlund proved a masterstroke.

Zirkzee was excellent, holding the ball up brilliantly, driving United forward, and nearly scoring a winner before calmly slotting home the decisive penalty in the shootout.

Amorim also introduced Toby Collyer, whose tireless work rate and energy were crucial in helping United see out the game.

These changes, along with the other adjustments Amorim made, were spot on and played a key role in giving United the platform to reach penalties and ultimately secure the win.

5. Ruud Reunion

Manchester United’s draw for the next round pits them against Leicester City at Old Trafford, managed by former United player, assistant manager, and interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy.

It promises to be a special reunion with the Dutchman, but sentiment must be set aside as this is a game United simply have to win.
