Manchester United are on the brink of signing Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha, with the Midlands side now looking for his replacement.

United made Cunha their priority target for the summer transfer window, alongside Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, with their combined release clauses coming to £92.5 million.

Despite United’s financial issues, they are reportedly able to sign these transfers off without making sales first or relying on the income from winning the Europa League.

As such, The Red Devils have been making massive leaps in discussions with Cunha and his representatives to get a deal in place, with the Brazilian extremely keen on the move.

Fabrizio Romano recently commented that the move is really close with the club and player in advanced stages of negotiations.

However, the biggest sign that the deal is close could have just come from Wolves, as the club prepares themselves for life after their star man leaves in the summer.

Wolves look to relegated star as Matheus Cunha replacement

Football Insider has now reported that Wolves are lining up a shock move for Leicester City’s captain Jamie Vardy as the Premier League winner has announced he’s leaving the club in the summer.

Vardy is reportedly also being approached by Wrexham who have just secured back-to-back-to-back promotions to the Championships under the Hollywood ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny.

However, Vardy is reportedly wanting to remain in the Premier League with Wolves surviving the drop as Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich have all confirmed their relegation with four games to go.

The report explains that his move to the Molineux would see him take on the role as an impact player rather than a set-starter in Vitor Pereira’s side, with the 38-year-old grabbing eight goals and three assists in 33 games this season.
