Manchester United have seen significant turnover in their coaching staff over recent years.
Several former assistants have stepped into managerial roles across England.
Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick, once key figures under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure at Old Trafford, have successfully transitioned into head coach positions.
McKenna guiding Ipswich Town to promotion and Carrick steering Middlesbrough to Championship play-off contention.
Under Erik ten Hag, a similar overhaul took place, with the Dutchman bringing in his own trusted backroom staff.
Among them was Rene Hake, who joined Manchester United in the summer of 2024 after working closely with Ten Hag in the Netherlands.
However, Ten Hag’s dismissal following a poor run of results late in the year saw his entire coaching team depart.
This included a certain coach named Rene Hake.

Now, Rene Hake is being lined up for a potential managerial role at West Bromwich Albion.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the Baggies have opened discussions with Hake regarding their vacant head coach position.
He is one of three primary candidates for the role.
West Brom are believed to be attracted by Hake’s experience in both management and as an assistant.
Hake is viewed as a strong contender to come in and push for promotion.

Hake, 53, began his career coaching youth teams before stepping into men’s football management at FC Emmen.
He later held positions at FC Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles, recording respectable points-per-game averages of 1.50 and 1.37 in the Eredivisie.
Despite not boasting standout numbers, Hake’s familiarity with implementing structured, attacking football aligns with the style of his predecessor at West Brom, Carlos Corberan.
Talks between Hake and West Brom remain ongoing, with the club yet to reveal the identities of the other two candidates.
If successful, Hake’s appointment could continue the trend of former Manchester United coaches finding success elsewhere.
Further reflecting the rich coaching pedigree that continues to emerge from Old Trafford’s dugout.
