Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is set to return to Old Trafford this September.

The former United striker spent over a decade with the club after he arrived from Everton in 2004 for €37 million.

Over his 13 years at the club, Rooney made 559 appearances, netting 253 goals and grabbing 139 assists, helping the squad secure five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, four League Cups and four Community Shields.

At a European and international level, Rooney also help the Red Devils to lift a Champions League trophy, a Europa League trophy and a FIFA Club World Cup, the latter of which he also was awarded the Golden Boot.

The former striker returned to Everton on a free transfer in 2017, before moving to DC United in the MLS a year later. Then in 2020, Rooney returned to England with Derby County where he would ultimately hang up his boots and take his first steps as manager.

After two years managing Derby, Rooney returned Stateside to former club DC United, lasting a year and a half before returning to Britain to take on the managerial role at Birmingham. However, after only three months, the England international left the club and took a four month break before signing on as manager of Plymouth Argyle.

Now, the 38-year-old is set to return to Manchester United this September.
