Ruben Amorim and his men have travelled to Spain today ahead of their Europa League clash with Athletic Club tomorrow night.

The Manchester United manager has even been given a boost with injured stars Amad Diallo, Matthijs de Ligt and Toby Collyer returning to training.

The trio’s recovery has been so positive that Diallo and de Ligt have made the flight to Spain, joining the side in contention for the Semi-Final first leg.

However, Amorim has now confirmed that the duo won’t be starting the game when speaking in his pre-match conference.

Ruben Amorim confirms two men on the bench against Athletic Club

Speaking about the duo starting, as reported by The Express, the Portuguese manager commented: “To start, no, but they can be on the squad for the game and the rest of the players.”

He continued: “We have a game tomorrow and then we have to train here Friday so we need to prepare not just for this game, play this game but also prepare for the next game against Brentford.

“We took a lot of especially young kids to prepare for the next game.”

The duo’s return will be a huge relief for Amorim, having missed the pair for a couple of months, with the club’s results faltering since their injuries.

Despite Diallo being ruled out since February with a damaged ligament in his ankle, the winger is still one of the club’s top goal scorers, showing their need for him to be back in the squad.

Whilst it’s clear the pair won’t be starting the match, it’s highly likely that the duo will make an appearance later on in the game.
