Manchester United’s match against Wolves will have lasting effects on their next fixture.

The defeat at Molineux has made United’s upcoming game against Newcastle even more challenging.

United’s final match of 2024 will take place at Old Trafford on Monday, 30th.

Ruben Amorim’s side will face Newcastle without two key players.

Both players started in defeat to Wolves, will miss out due to suspension.

Bruno Fernandes was sent off after receiving a second yellow card early in the second half.

Manuel Ugarte will also miss the game after accumulating too many bookings.

This leaves Amorim with limited options in midfield.

Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are expected to form the midfield trio.

Casemiro and Eriksen came on late against Wolves but failed to make much of a difference.

Toby Collyer may also be in contention after featuring on the bench against Bournemouth.

Collyer has only recently returned to full team training.

United will aim to avoid a fourth straight defeat when they face Newcastle.

January fixtures against Liverpool and Arsenal will follow soon after.

The pressure is mounting.

United need their leaders to step up and turn things around.

The whole root of the problems at Old Trafford over the past decade will lead back to recruitment.

The imbalance and lack of true quality in United’s midfield department is staggering.

Amorim will be the first to admit the lack of balance across the entirety of the squad.

Moreso, considering the amount of money spent over the past several years.

Over £600 million was spent under Erik ten Hag, yet the squad still lacks quality in all areas.

If Amorim’s United are to improve for the long-term, stability is a compulsory requirement.

Something the club has lacked, long since the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
