Manchester United are seemingly set for a spot in the Europa League final, with an all-English fixture being set up against Tottenham Hotspur.

Whilst neither team have booked their slot in the final, with the Semi-Final second legs set to take place this week, their strong wins in the first leg have set them both up in a good position.

Manchester United beat Athletic Club in Spain with a resounding 3-0 win, whilst Spurs beat Bodo/Glimt 3-1 to take their advantage into the second meeting.

However, Spurs will now be without one of their key stars for the second leg and the final after suffering a devastating injury.

In Tottenham’s first meeting with Bodo/Glimt, midfielder James Maddison had to leave the field in the 65th minute, being replaced by Dejan Kulusevski.

This came as a huge blow for Spurs as Maddison had already scored for the club, giving the London-based side a 2-0 lead in the 34th minute.

Now, talkSPORT has revealed that Maddison has undergone a series of scans for his knee injury, with the results due in the next 24 hours.

However, there are concerns from within the club that it could a long-term issue requiring surgery, leading to a length recover.

Speaking of the injury as well as Dominic Solanke also having to be taken off injured, Ange Postecoglou commented: “We’re pretty hopeful with Dom that it will be OK, he’s improving every day but it made no sense to bring him on today. Maddison’s a bit more of a concern until we get some more information but he’s the one that’s more of a concern.”

Whilst this is a massive blow for Spurs, this could be a huge boost for United as they’ve failed to beat Spurs in any of their three match-ups this season.
