With Ruben Amorim now at Manchester United, implementing a new playstyle, some members of the squad will need to earn their place in the starting line-up.
Amorim’s regular 3-4-3 relies on dynamic wings and intensity throughout, especially in midfield.
Yesterday Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Amorim’s initial need with his squad is “intensity, intensity, intensity”, suggesting this will be the core focus of the upcoming transfer window.
The reporter also went on to suggest that certain players like Christian Eriksen won’t fend well in Amorim’s new system.

However, it’s three other stars that have now been called out by Emmanuel Petit.
Emmanuel Petit comments on Ruben Amorim choosing his starting wingers
Petit recently spoke to Instant Casino as reported by The Mirror about the fight that some players will now have for their spot in the teams.
The former Premier League midfielder has advised that Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho need to step up under Amorim to find their place in the squad.
The 54-year-old commented: “For me, the quality of players at Manchester United in some positions is not good enough.”
He continued: “Starting from the midfield, I think they need to add quality players and wingers as well. I’m sorry, but I’m not totally convinced about Garnacho, about Amad, Rashford. He’s got a lot of work to do.”
However, despite the hesitation from Petit, Amad had a brilliant game against PAOK, scoring a brace for the win, and assisting Bruno Fernandes in their win over Leicester.
Alongside this, Garnacho got his name on the scoresheet against The Foxes, and provided some valuable goals at the start of the season, currently sitting as United’s top goalscorer this season.
However, Rashford has been the centre of much discussion around his inconsistency.
Rashford’s road to find his form once more
Despite the inconsistency, former United scout, Mick Brown believes that Rashford can turn it around.
Speaking to Football Insider, Brown commented: “He’s very much a Manchester boy; he’s got Man United running through his veins, and that’s okay up to a point, but his performances have been too up and down,”
He continued: “There’s no consistency, and it’s that inconsistency which has cost him and cost United this season. I don’t know what his problem is or why he’s struggling.
“He’s got all the talent in the world but never finishes a game. He’s always taken off. I’ve got great belief in Marcus’ ability, but all too often, he doesn’t show it. When the new manager comes in, he’ll assess where he thinks he’s at, and then he’ll make a decision.
“It’ll be up to him to determine the level he’s playing at and try to get the best out of him because it wasn’t working under Ten Hag.”
