Thomas Muller is a true Bayern Munich legend having been at the club since the age of 11 in 2000.
Now after 25 years, Bayern are going to be without the German international as his contract is coming to an end in the summer.
With only one home game left at the Allianz Arena, Muller commented: “You slowly realize that today was the penultimate game [at Allianz Arena]. I don’t feel nostalgic or sad about it, but it’s still kind of strange.. Next year I’ll need a ticket”
Playing for Germany’s biggest club for the last 16 years after making his senior appearance following his rise through the Bayern academy, it goes without saying that he’s faced some truly impressive opponents.
Naturally he faced top German sides like Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Leverkusen on a yearly basis, but with Bayern’s routine Champions League status, he’s also face Europe’s elite.
Playing in the top European tournament, Muller’s also faced Barcelona and Real Madrid on ten occasions, PSG eight times, Arsenal seven times, then playing six matches against Manchester United, Manchester City, Inter Milan, Juventus and Atletico Madrid.
With such an esteemed set of opponents, you can only imagine the collection of shirts Thomas Muller must have from post-game shirt swaps.
However, his favourite shirt swap goes to a true Manchester United legend, just not for a club outing.
iMiaSanMia has reported Muller commenting on his favourite ever shirt swap as: “Wayne Rooney after the 2010 World Cup round of 16 against England”
The game was a night to remember for Muller as he scored two goals and set up Lukas Podolski in their 4-1 win over England which saw them go on to beat Argentina 4-0 before losing to Spain in the Semi-Final, beating Uruguay 3-2 in the third-place play-off.
