Spanish media reacts to Man Utd win over Real Betis
The reaction in Spain to Manchester United’s performance was positive, with praise directed towards Erik ten Hag’s side.
Real Betis are preparing for their upcoming La Liga season, and although much attention was given to their loss, United’s performance did not go unnoticed.
AS featured the headline ‘United suffocate Betis,’ highlighting that the first-half surge from Erik ten Hag’s team ‘knocked out’ the La Liga side.
United’s relentless off-the-ball effort was praised, particularly noting two dangerous forwards who were pivotal to the team’s threat in the final third.
The report stated: “Betis did not start off too well, finding it very difficult to avoid United’s intense pressing system.
“Ten Hag’s men had the ball and played deep in every play to damage the spaces with the mobility of Marcus Rashford and the speed of Amad Diallo.”
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo suggested that Betis had been somewhat unfortunate, accusing Amad of diving to earn United’s opening penalty. Nonetheless, the outlet conceded: “United imposed the greater quality and speed of their players.”
Marca added: “United were much superior in the first half, playing comfortably against an imprecise and overwhelmed Betis who did nothing but open the scoring.”
“They also commended United’s quality in possession, stating: “Betis could not get the ball and United suffocated the Andalusians.”
United are set to conclude their US tour by facing Liverpool in the early hours of Sunday.
The upcoming friendly will be a match both teams are keen to win, even though the result will have no direct impact on their third match of the Premier League season at Old Trafford, where they will meet again.
