They were quick to heap praise on the 25-year-old after full-time.

El Desmarque were among those to highlight Antony’s improved form and movement in the final third, writing:

“He needed to find his way back to goal.

“He needed to celebrate again, to roar again, to find his way back into the net.

“Antony found plenty of space to run and cause damage behind the defense, alternating his position to surprise with runs from the back.”

The outlet rated Antony’s performance an impressive eight out of 10.

Elsewhere, Mucho Deporte handed Antony an even higher rating and highlighted how he set the tone for Betis from the very start of the game.

Their review read: “He’s back in top form.

“After a few less impressive matches, the Brazilian put in a spectacular performance in Girona.

From the start, he made a difference with his quality and imagination.”

That performance earned Antony a glowing nine out of 10 rating from Mucho Deporte.

Antony labelled as best La Liga winter signing

Finally, Estadio Deportivo went even further in their praise.

They hailed both his creativity and work rate on the night.

Their glowing review stated:

“Not only did he uncover the eternal mystery of attacking essences with his wide passes, incredible dribbles, and clairvoyant passing, but he also showed great solidarity in assisting Ruibal with Danjuma.

“A stunning goal with his weaker foot proved he is, by far, the best winter signing in LaLiga.

“He could have scored more after the break.”

The Spanish media are clearly convinced by Antony’s resurgence, even if his performances are unlikely to earn him a future at Old Trafford.

United are open to selling Antony this summer.

Atletico Madrid have been circling and an asking price of around £40million now seeming more realistic thanks to his sparkling form in Spain.
