Last week, Ruben Amorim made a massive claim about his Manchester United squad following their 3-1 defeat to Brighton.
The new manager bluntly said: “In 10 games in the Premier League, we won two. I know that. We are the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.”
Unfortunately for Amorim’s men, his assessment is reflected in the results.
It’s the worst start to a Premier League campaign ever following on from their worst end position in the Premier League, finishing eighth.
They also experienced their worst-ever record in Europe with a six-win-less game streak and only one win in eleven matches.
However, just because it’s backed up with the results, doesn’t mean anyone was expecting Amorim to come out and say it.
That said, The Guardian has now reported how Sir Jim Ratcliffe has responded to the comments.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe unphased by comments from Ruben Amorim
United’s minority owner is unconcerned by Amorim’s bold comments, feeling that it won’t affect the squad’s faith in Amorim or affect their performance.
The INEOS owner believes in Amorim’s fierce desire to win matches and restore United to their winning ways, with his passion for that goal being clear to all.
Ratcliffe also believes that the squad understand that Amorim’s comments were born from this passion and respects him for that.
However, explaining his outburst further, Amorim has recently commented: “I was talking more for myself than my players because I was talking that [I am] a coach who starts out losing seven games in the first [15]. So it’s more for me.”
Either way, there appears to be no fear in the United camp that Amorim’s comments will affect the squad or his relationship with them.
