Sir Jim Ratcliffe is planning yet another major reshuffle in his most recent move as co-owner of Manchester United.

The INEOS owner has been in charge of operations at Old Trafford for over 12 months now and a lot has changed.

The club have gone through a hierarchy restructure, two sets of coaching teams and a mass set of 450 redundancies.

But now, Ratcliffe’s latest reshuffle is affecting his own INEOS men.

The Times has reported that the reshuffle will lead to Sir Dave Brailsford reducing his role with Manchester United to return to his director of sport role for INEOS.

Sir Dave Brailsford set to step away from Manchester United

It’s understood that to allow for this, Jason Wilcox is assuming more responsibilities as he steps up into the role of director of football at the club.

Wilcox has already been instrumental in several recruitment drives for United under his role as technical director; however is now stepping officially into the void left behind by Dan Ashworth.

Sir Dave Brailsford will still be retaining his position on the United board however, being on hand to advise on strategic performance matters.

Brailsford was appointed to his role at Old Trafford under the guise of assembling a remodelled structure for the United hierarchy, which has now been achieved.

As such, the 61-year-old is now expected to refocus on the INEOS Grenadiers, the company’s cycling team which he was team principal of before moving to focus on United.

The Grenadiers are currently aiming to return to their previous levels of winning the Tour de France, with a new partner in the mix.

Brailsford’s main aim with the Grenadiers will be to support Geraint Thomas in assuming his role in a senior management position once he retires as a rider once this season is over.

However, as Brailsford will be focusing on INEOS’ sports partnerships in general, he’ll also be turning his attention to OGC Nice, where he once held influence before Sir Jim Ratcliffe turned his main focus onto Manchester United.
