Sir Alex Ferguson is a true Manchester United icon and Premier League legend, having managed The Red Devils for 27 years, helping the club achieve unprecedented success.

With 13 Premier League titles to his name, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups, four League Cups, ten Charity Shields, as well as two World’s Best Club Coach, Ferguson is one of the most decorated managers of the Premier League era.

Since stepping down as manager in 2013, the Scotsman stepped into the role of the club’s global ambassador, promoting The Red Devils worldwide.

However, the 83-year-old has been a victim of the INEOS reign, having had his multi-million-pound ambassadorial role axed to save the club money.

Now, Sir Alex Ferguson is all set to take on a new ambassadorial role with Playlist for Life.

Sir Alex Ferguson joins Playlist for Life

Playlist for Life focuses on using music to support people with dementia, founded by Sally Magnusson in 2013.

Earlier today, the organisation took to their website to announce: “The football legend Sir Alex Ferguson has become an official ambassador for Playlist for Life following seasons of strong support through fundraising and participation in awareness raising campaigns.”

The statement continues: “For many years Sir Alex has supported Playlist for Life with generous and highly coveted auction prizes, and appearing on national television to talk about the impact of meaningful music and dementia.

“In his new role of ambassador, Sir Alex will champion our work and help us reach more families affected by dementia through awareness raising, fundraising and influencing.

“We will work together to ensure everyone living with dementia has access to a unique, personalised playlist and that everyone who loves or cares from them knows how to use it.”

Speaking out for the first time as the organisation’s ambassador, Ferguson commented: “Dementia is a big challenge for all of us, but we all know someone close to us who has dementia.”

He continued: “It’s not always easy to talk about, but music is a fantastic thing that can help.

“I’m beyond proud to be an ambassador for Playlist for Life. Visiting the team and hearing more about the work they do, I can see they are leading the way in using music to transform the lives of people affected by dementia.

“Music is a fantastic thing, I’ve made a start on the playlist of my life, I recommend everyone does the same and supports this fantastic charity.”
