Manchester United’s current campaign continues to draw headlines, with Ruben Amorim overseeing a squad still balancing youth and experience.

The Reds are pushing to climb the table, with key fixtures against rivals expected to shape their early season form.

Alongside the present-day battles, the club’s illustrious past remains firmly in the spotlight, with several former stars now being recognised for their iconic contributions to English football.

Manchester United revealed, via their website, that seven ex-United players have been named among the nominees for the next round of inductions into the Premier League Hall of Fame, further underlining the club’s historic influence on the competition.

Michael Carrick, a masterful midfielder who arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006, is among the contenders.

He spent over a decade at Old Trafford, winning five Premier League titles and claiming the Players’ Player of the Year award in the 2012/13 season.

Patrice Evra, another fan favourite, is also in the running.

Signed from Monaco in the same year as Carrick, the French full-back lifted the league title five times during his 379 appearances and would become the fifth Frenchman to be inducted should he make the cut.

Gary Neville, a one-club stalwart who epitomised loyalty in the modern era and who back in May completed a full takeover of Salford City, is also among the contenders.

With 602 appearances for United and eight Premier League titles to his name, his legacy as both a player and leader is already cemented in Old Trafford folklore.

Michael Owen, while best remembered for his Liverpool days, did secure his only Premier League crown at Old Trafford in 2010/11.

His injury-time winner in the 2009 Manchester derby remains one of the defining moments of his stint at United.

Teddy Sheringham, whose goals and intelligence helped United to a famous treble, is on the list too.

The former PFA Player of the Year scored crucial goals in his time at the club, cementing his place in Premier League history.

Edwin van der Sar, who joined United later in his career but brought immense stability between the posts, is also in contention.

With four league titles and a Champions League triumph, he is often regarded as one of the finest keepers in United’s history.

Completing the list is Nemanja Vidic, the Serbian defender whose formidable partnership with Rio Ferdinand defined an era of dominance.

Nemanja Vidic captained United with distinction, winning five league titles across his spell.

Fans have until midday on Monday 15 September to cast their votes for two nominees, with the existing 24 Hall of Famers – including United icons such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Eric Cantona and David Beckham – helping make the final decision.

The official announcement and induction ceremony will take place in London on Tuesday 4 November, where the Premier League will honour the new inductees and add their names to its growing history.
