The world of injuries in football can often seem like a revolving door, as one player returns, another goes out injured. Now, it’s Sekou Kone who looks to be joining Manchester United’s injury list.
United’s Under-21 side’s match-up with Huddersfield Town was getting some excitement, with Tyrell Malacia set to make an appearance.
The left-back has been out of action for 18 months, requiring double surgeries to fix a knee problem.
However, now back in team training, the 25-year-old was allowed to play for the Under-21’s squad in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. This first game back marks a massive step on his road to recovery.
However, with Malacia, it seems Kone is now taking his place with the medical team, having come off injured.
The 18-year-old joined United from the Malian club Guidars this summer.

Now, in his first competitive start for the club’s Under-21 team.
Sekou Kone suffers injury on first United start
Unfortunately, Kone couldn’t make it to half-time, limping off the pitch in the 42nd minute.
Kone came off second-best in a challenge which appeared to be an uncomfortable impact, however he was unable to keep playing.
Before coming off, the young midfielder made 32 touches, with 14 of 18 passes completed, making himself known on the pitch.
On defence, he won 4 of 6 duels and made three successful interceptions, marking a strong performance.
Whilst he didn’t make it through the whole game, the experience alone is a great step in his progression through the United ranks.
United will be hoping that Kone can bounce back from this, ready for their next match on 29th November against Altrincham.
