Manchester United’s dominance across Europe in the 1990s and 2000s continues to be celebrated, with supporters praising the club’s golden era under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Premier League has recently opened voting for its 2025 Hall of Fame intake, with fans now choosing which two names will join football’s elite.
United fans have already been rallying behind the likes of Patrice Evra, Michael Carrick, and Nemanja Vidic, who have all been shortlisted this year.
The decision will ultimately rest with the existing 24 Hall of Fame inductees, including Sir Alex Ferguson himself, but supporters are making their voices heard before voting closes on 15 September.
Among the debate around this year’s list, controversy has erupted after one of United’s greatest servants was left out entirely.
Rhodri Giggs has publicly criticised the Premier League for overlooking his brother Ryan Giggs in the latest shortlist of nominees.
Ryan Giggs, who played 632 Premier League games, won 13 league titles, and still holds the record for the most assists in the competition, has been excluded despite a career that dwarfs many of those nominated.
Rhodri, who has had a fractured relationship with his brother due to the infamous affair with his former wife Natasha, has surprisingly jumped to his defence over the Hall of Fame snub.
Responding to the announcement, he shared a montage of Giggs’ greatest Manchester United moments alongside the caption: “13 Premier League medals and countless goals and the record number of Premier League assists. #TheShamHallOfFame.”

It follows comments he made earlier this year when asked about his brother’s past scandals, saying per GB News: “Mate, it was over 14 years ago and I’ve got two kids with someone else and made s*** load of money from it.”
He added: “I buzz off it. It was 14 years ago and I made about £1million from it.
“Can’t be on X and not expect a little bit of shrapnel coming your way. All part of the fun.”
Giggs’ legacy has been marred by controversies, including his affair with Natasha, a fling with model Imogen Thomas, and his high-profile divorce from Stacey in 2017.
He also stepped down as Wales boss in 2022 following his arrest on suspicion of assault, though he was cleared in 2023 after the trial collapsed when his ex-partner Kate Greville withdrew.
Despite the scandals, his footballing legacy is unmatched — a one-club man who made 963 United appearances, collecting four FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions League medals alongside his record-breaking league haul.
Meanwhile, Evra, Teddy Sheringham, Gary Neville, Carrick, Vidic, Edwin van der Sar and Michael Owen are the United men included on the 2025 shortlist.
They join Sol Campbell, Jermain Defoe, Cesc Fabregas, Les Ferdinand, Robbie Fowler, Eden Hazard, David Silva and Yaya Toure.
Fans have until 15 September to vote, after which the final decision will be confirmed by the Hall of Fame panel.
