Manchester United are entering the final stretch of a frantic transfer window, with Ruben Amorim determined to get his squad in shape ahead of a crucial season.
The Red Devils have already splashed more than £200million on new signings, including Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, while also targeting a midfielder and a goalkeeper to complete the squad.
Amorim has made it clear that only players committed to the club’s long-term project will feature in his plans, with the remainder needing to make moves quickly or face a new reality at Old Trafford.
As the clock ticks down to 7pm on September 1, United are pushing for clarity on several high-profile names whose futures remain uncertain.
Ruben Amorim has warned Manchester United’s ‘bomb squad’ members the onus is on them to secure exits before the transfer deadline.
Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia are all still at United as clubs approach the final week of the transfer window, which closes at 7pm on September 1.
Garnacho, Sancho, Antony and Malacia have still been reporting for training sessions at United’s Carrington training complex at a separate time to the core squad that Amorim is working with.
Chelsea are the frontrunners to sign Garnacho, Sancho has held discussions with Italian clubs, Real Betis are still interested in re-signing Antony while Malacia is available for around £4 million.
Ruben Amorim said during United’s pre-season tour he would “receive” any of the players if they failed to move elsewhere, however that was viewed as a challenge to them to clinch transfers away from United ahead of the World Cup next year.
The United head coach stressed the club had attempted to “arrange everything” for the players to leave.

Speaking in Mancheser United’s pre-match conference ahead of the Fulham game, Amorim admitted, “I think again, I know that is not a good thing to have players in this situation, but it’s clear they want to play in a different club and that is clear.
“So we try to arrange everything for both parts to be happy, so I have to try to imagine to have the training with the guys that I think are going to be the future and the other guys are training and preparing for the next chapter.
“When the window is closed, it’s a different history, when the window is closed, we have to receive the players and in a new life, anything can happen.”
Amorim was concise again on the future of Rasmus Hojlund, who was omitted from the matchday squad against Arsenal on Sunday.
United want to sell Hojlund following the arrival of new striker Benjamin Sesko and a couple of Serie A clubs are interested in the Denmark international.
With less than two week remaining of the transfer window, United’s squad dilemmas will define how Amorim shapes his team for the rest of a demanding season.
