Ruben Amorim and Manchester United could be about to part ways as the Portuguese manager reaches a new career low.
Despite a strong pre-season tour, United have failed to win in either of their opening two Premier League matches.
The Red Devils lost to Arsenal before drawing to Fulham, with fans seeing United’s opening Carabao Cup tie with Grimsby Town as a great opportunity to get another win in the books.
However, hopes of a clear victory slipped away as Grimsby went 2-0 up in the first 30 minutes.
Whilst Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire brought their side back into the game for penalties, Grimsby still reigned victorious.
It’s understood that United’s upcoming Premier League fixture with newly promoted Burnley is now seen as a must-win, with meetings already set for after the clash.
Adding to this, The Guardian has now reported that concerns are being raised from within the Old Trafford dressing room about Ruben Amorim’s tactics and man-management.
Jason Wilcox is understood to be aware of the issues regarding these concerns and could move to address these.
However, the report explains that the United hierarchy have no plans on sacking Amorim, it is believed that the manager’s pride could see him leave if results don’t pick up.
The United boss already alluded to a potential departure in the post-game interview following The Red Devils being knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
Ruben Amorim expressed that United aren’t going to look at replacing 22 players again, sliding to the massive change in squad between his current line-up and Erik ten Hag’s squad.
That said, United have now assembled a squad for a formation and play style very different to anything before, so if Amorim was to leave, either voluntarily or being sacked, yet another major change could be on the cards.
