Manchester United’s squad is currently in a state of flux, as the club is in desperate need of new talent, with no transfer funds to make it happen.
As such, United are reliant on sales to kick-start their transfer pot to bring in stars to fit Amorim’s setup.
The Red Devils are currently open to offers on any of their senior squad members. However, still have several sales they are prioritising getting across the line.
Players like Antony and Marcus Rashford are as good as gone, just waiting for a club to take them.
Whilst several of Europe’s elite are circling for Rashford, Antony’s interest is much more sporadic. Only Real Betis and Olympiacos are monitoring the Brazilian, with both starts set for potential loans this month.
Elsewhere, Napoli are determined to sign Alejandro Garnacho to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who’s headed to PSG.
However, United are still yet to get a deal across the line. Their lack of capacity in the market is also now having a knock-on effect. The lack of budget has now caused them to miss out on one of their top targets.
PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani has now agreed to a loan move to Juventus for the rest of the season, as the Italian side pip United to the post.
Whilst setbacks like this are somewhat expected with the club’s current financial struggles, Amorim has now expressed how long he believes it will take to assemble his ideal squad.

Ruben Amorim puts a timescale on assembling his ideal squad
Graeme Bailey has reported that Amorim needs six transfer windows to assemble his ideal squad at Old Trafford.
This timescale corresponds with what INEOS declared would be the turnaround time for the club.
However, one of these windows did see United spend £200 million under Erik ten Hag. This contributed a third of the total £600 million the Dutchman spent with very few results.
Now, Amorim is stuck with the consequences, having to harness the potential of his current squad and potentially make some sales that in an ideal world he’d prefer to avoid.
With this January as the first window under Amorim, looking likely to be a quiet one for United, it’s unclear if a slow start is reflected in Amorim’s predictions.
