Earlier this week, it was revealed that Andre Onana had picked up a hamstring injury during pre-season training which will mean the goalkeeper will miss out on Manchester United’s pre-season camp in the USA.

Furthermore, it means that Onana will be side-lined for a period of up to eight weeks although after responding positively early treatment, there is hope that the Cameroon international will be fit for United’s opening Premier League game against Arsenal.

But, the chances of this happening are uncertain which, alongside the Red Devils’ pre-season fixtures against teams such as Leeds United, West Ham United and Everton, mean that a replacement option for the meantime is required.

One of the options to fill this role could be Altay Bayindir who made just ten appearances in all competitions last campaign.

Onana’s injury could present the opportunity for him to finally prove to Ruben Amorim and to the Old Trafford faithful that he deserves a shot at being United’s starting goalkeeper.

However, now, a new name has emerged as a potential replacement for Onana whilst he is away.

This comes in the form of Radek Vítek who is reported by i news to be travelling with the Manchester United squad to the USA where he will even start their opening game on the 27th of July.

The 21-year-old is a graduate of the United youth academy and spent last season on loan at BW Linz where he was able to make 28 appearances with 79 saves and was able to save 69.3% of the shots he faced.

Although the emerging talent is set to make his mark on the Red Devils’ upcoming tour, he isn’t the only academy graduate who fans could see making a step-up with other talents such as Dermot Mee and Elyh Harrison also at Amorim’s disposal.

Furthermore, Vitek’s appearances in the USA for United may be particularly insightful for Millwall who were reported to be interested in the goalkeeper earlier today.

With Radek Vítek set to start United’s first game of their US tour, fans will be able to see the skills and qualities that the young shot-stopper possesses and why he’s so highly rated by The Red Devils.
