Ruben Amorim is currently at the start of his first full season at Manchester United, a season in which he will aim to improve on United’s 15th place finish from last season.

However, thus far, United’s season has arguably not gone to plan.

In their opening three games, they have only picked up four points and have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

Furthermore, there is currently conflict within the club about the goalkeeper position amongst other issues.

But, even with this, there is arguably reasons to be positive.

The Red Devils have been able to sign countless players this summer and have attracted arguably some of the best talent in the world.

Furthermore, United have even broken a record.

Both of their opening two goals of the Premier League campaign being own goals, the first time this has happened.

But, now, Ruben Amorim is at risk of breaking an unwritten Manchester United rule.

Since October 1937, United have managed to maintain an astonishing tradition that is the envy of rival clubs, by including an academy graduate in every first-team squad.

However, that record now appears vulnerable.

Following the departures of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and the retirement of Jonny Evans, Kobbie Mainoo is the only player in the first team squad who is an academy graduate.

But, with Mainoo wanting to leave the club this summer, Ruben Amorim risks breaking the tradition that has existed since 1937.

If he was to break this tradition, Amorim would arguably be marking a new era in the culture at Manchester United.

However, with United not wanting Mainoo to leave, this tradition arguably looks safe, for now.

But, with a day of the window still remaining, anything can happen and Mainoo could leave at any moment, breaking the tradition.
