Roy Keane has been an absolute footballing legend both on the pitch and as a pundit.
Keane broke into the footballing scene in 1988, playing for Rockmount AFC in Ireland. Within two years, the midfielder had moved from Cobh Ramblers to Nottingham Forest for £166,000 (€200,000).
Three years later, Keane moved to Manchester United where he really made his name, spending 13 years with the club.
Eventually becoming club captain, Keane made 479 appearances for The Red Devils, grabbing 51 goals and 39 assists.
His contributions helped the club win seven Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and eight domestic trophies.
Not just a club legend, but Keane made his presence known on the international stage, getting 67 caps for Republic of Ireland, helping them qualify for the 1994 and 2002 World Cups.
Keane played out his career at Celtic, hanging up his boots in 2006, only six months after leaving Old Trafford.
Across his 28 year career, Keane made a total of 617 club appearances, with 78 goals and 45 assists, not to mention his 102 yellow cards and 8 reds.
After hanging up his boots, the former Red Devil has still been a frequent face on the screens as a pundit for regular football broadcasts and major tournaments, putting out his thoughts and opinions.
However, the player-turned-pundit has now decided on his next steps.
Roy Keane announces the next steps in his career plan
Speaking on The Overlap with Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Gary Neville, the Manchester United legend confirmed the next steps in his career, surprising some people.
Keane came out and explained: “In the next couple of years, I reckon I will be moving abroad… putting it out there.”
He continued: “Do you know what, Switzerland, maybe? Switzerland is beautiful.”
This revelation comes on the back of his announcement back in August that he was looking to step away from punditry in the next ten years.
Speaking about quitting his role as a pundit, Keane commented: “I love football, but the hassle of matches, getting to games, and the hassle of fans – I was in court a few months ago with somebody head-butting me – do you think I enjoy that side of it? Absolutely not.”
He continued: “The games are fine. Getting to the games, parking up, people shouting your name – good stuff, bad stuff – it’s a nuisance. Being a pundit in 10 years, not.”
