Rio Ferdinand has named the player he believes Manchester United should sign on deadline day.
United fans are desperate for reinforcements after Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat to Crystal Palace.
Three straight wins suggested Amorim’s side was improving, but Palace exposed their fragility.
Jean-Philippe Mateta’s second-half brace condemned United to their tenth league defeat.
That result leaves the Red Devils sitting in 13th place in the Premier League table.
After the match, Amorim admitted the club was trying to strengthen before the deadline.
He insisted, however, that United would not repeat the “mistakes of the past.”
Amorim reportedly wants to sign a forward after landing Denmark’s Patrick Dorgu.

Marcus Rashford’s move to Aston Villa has also left a gap in the squad.
Ferdinand agrees United need firepower and has named Victor Osimhen as the ideal signing.
Osimhen, on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been linked with a Premier League move.
Responding to a United fan, Rio Ferdinand said he would love to see Osimhen at Old Trafford.
“I 100% agree with you,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“A natural number nine. Victor Osimhen, I would have gone with Osimhen on loan.”
“Get him on loan, man. If it’s possible, I would have got him.”
Osimhen has been in superb form, scoring 17 goals in 21 Super Lig appearances.
The Nigerian helped Napoli win Serie A but has since fallen out with Antonio Conte.
Amorim seemed to send a message to the board with his selection against Crystal Palace.
He started Kobbie Mainoo up front in the absence of a recognised striker.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both started the game on the bench.
Ferdinand has long backed a United move for Osimhen and believes he would help Hojlund.
“I’ve watched Hojlund closely the last two games… it just doesn’t add up,” he said.
“I’d be going to get Osimhen now if we can do it financially. Get him on loan now!”

“He guarantees goals, gets on the end of things, has experience, and has done it at the top level.”
“People expect Hojlund to be the finished article, but he’s a young striker.”
“Normally, a young striker comes in and learns off someone. He’s got nobody to learn off.”
Discussing United’s deadline day plans, Amorim admitted it would be difficult to get deals done.
“We are trying everything to improve the team without making the mistakes of the past,” he said.
“We know all aspects of our club at the moment, but we are trying everything.”
“This market is really hard on clubs to make some deals. I want to improve the team so badly.”
“I know what the team needs. Sometimes it’s possible, sometimes it’s not.”
“When the window closes, we will see the players that we have.”
