Instead, his vision was to start fresh with a long-term project.
Xavi was hoping United would keep Ruud van Nistelrooy in charge temporarily.

He was also spotted in Mexico and Japan, taking part in legends matches.
In recent days, he visited Al Sadd’s facilities in Qatar, where he started his coaching career.
He has also been seen alongside former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick.
For now, Xavi remains patient as he prepares for a return to elite management.
