Manchester United have made some major signings this summer in their bid to continue strengthening their squads ahead of the new season.
Matheus Cunha was signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers as the first major signing of the men’s team followed by Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
Completing Ruben Amorim’s attacking line-up came Benjamin Sesko, joining from RB Leipzig to lead the club in front of goal.
However, it’s now one of the Women’s side who has suffered a massive blow, with Fridolina Rolfo having signed from Barcelona this summer, only to be ruled out injured.
United’s Women’s team are set to face PSV Eindhoven in the coming days on 27th August, with the winner taking on Hammarby in the second round of the UWCL qualifiers, which is as far as United have ever reached.
Unfortunately though Rolfo isn’t the only one in question for the game, with Grace Clinton, Leah Galton, Melvine Malard and Rachel Williams also missing from their recent game against Liverpool.
Now, Goal have reported that speaking after the 2-2 draw, the women’s team manager Marc Skinner commented: “Mel [Malard] was a little bit of a hip [issue]. Hopefully [she] will be back for the PSV game.”
He continued: “Leah, we’re just watching. [She] may be back for the PSV game, and I look at Fridolina, she’s just come in so we’re assessing her.”
Elaborating on the issue with Fridolina Rolfo, Skinner commented: “She’d had a knock when she was going into the Euros, so we’re just making sure she’s healthy and she’s probably a few weeks away yet – but we’d rather treat her carefully as she’s going to be an excellent signing.”
No doubt Marc Skinner will be hoping that Rolfo will be returning to his squad to make an impact as soon as possible.
