Manchester United have finally managed to offload Antony, as the unwanted winger has taken the next steps in his career by moving to Real Betis.

The Brazil international joined Betis back in January on a loan for the remainder of the season, taking LaLiga by storm.

In 26 matches, Antony had already matched his Manchester United record of nine goals and five assists, which took him 70 more games at Old Trafford.

With the loan being so successful, helping the Spanish side reach the final of the UEFA Conference League, it’s no real surprise that Betis wanted to retain him at all costs, despite his wages and transfer fee being a little too high for the club.

Fellow Betis star Isco joked that a kick-starter would be needed to raise funds for Antony to move to the club, but Betis and United came to an agreement of £19 million for the star to leave Old Trafford.

A clause was agreed, however, which will see United get 50% of the profits of any future sale of Antony, but only coming into effect if Betis offload their star for more than they paid for him.

Now, ESPN has reported that the LaLiga side are looking to use their new signing in a move that will benefit both the club and Antony.

Real Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon has announced: “We’ve launched a clothing line with Antony.”

Explaining a little more about the interesting venture, he continued: “We’re participating with him through royalties, and he’ll also have some income outside of sports with that merchandising.”

It’s understood that the clothing line is to be inspired by Antony’s neck tattoo, which says “Iluminado”, which translates to “Enlightened” in English; however, that’s as much as has been revealed at this time.

Antony will surely be hoping that this partnership venture can help to recoup some of the £3.46 million drop in his salary from moving to Betis.
