Manchester United have finally got their man.

After weeks of chasing high-profile targets, the club have landed Benjamin Sesko – the striker Ruben Amorim and INEOS identified as a key upgrade in the number nine position.

The Red Devils had previously seen the likes of Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres move elsewhere, forcing them to ramp up efforts to secure a marquee centre-forward ahead of the new season.

RB Leipzig accepted an offer earlier this week after both United and Newcastle made major plays for the Slovenian international.

However, Sesko made clear he wanted Old Trafford.

Now, an agreement is in place – with the striker on course to become United’s third significant signing of the summer.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal with his signature “HERE WE GO” announcement on X.

And it was Rasmus Hojlund who notably liked the post – a sign of public support despite intense scrutiny over his future.

The deal between United and Leipzig stands at a total of £73.8 million overall, comprised of a £66.4 million transfer fee with £7.4 million in add-ons.

Sesko agreed terms until 2030.

Sesko has been granted permission to travel to Manchester for a medical.

The move follows Newcastle’s withdrawal from the race after Sesko agreed personal terms with United, leaving the Old Trafford club free to finalise talks with Leipzig without the threat of a bidding war.

Sesko is now set to lead the line for Amorim’s revamped attack heading into the 2025/26 campaign – but he won’t be the only young forward in the squad.

Hojlund, who joined from Atalanta in 2023 has had an uncertain summer.

He was linked with a return to Serie A, with Inter Milan and Atalanta both seriously following his situation.

However, the Dane made it clear he has no intention of leaving.

Despite speculation of being offered in a potential swap deal for Sesko, Hojlund refused to entertain any exit and remains determined to prove himself in Manchester.

Now, instead of departing, he looks set to share the stage with United’s new star striker – and judging by his social media activity, he’s all for it.
