Rasmus Hojlund was one of many faces to leave Old Trafford this summer.

The striker, who represents Denmark on an international level, had been with Manchester United since 2023 and in that time, the 22-year-old had made 95 appearances and scored 26 times.

However, in the Premier League last season, Hojlund only scored four times which arguably played a role in Ruben Amorim’s choice to buy players such as Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha – who arguably can be seen as replacements for him.

Furthermore, with these new arrivals, it seemed inevitable that Rasmus Hojlund would leave Old Trafford during the transfer window.

But, the club he would go to was unclear for a large proportion of the window.

However, there were two primary clubs in the conversation for the striker – AC Milan and Napoli.

AC Milan had advanced in their pursuit of the Danish international and even revealed their payment structure for a potential deal.

But, it was Napoli who Hojlund gave his green light to which, combined with the two clubs reaching an agreement, made a potential deal more likely.

Then, following Fabrizio Romano’s ‘here we go’ sign off and Hojlund arriving in Naples, Rasmus Hojlund officially completed his move to the current Italian champions on loan where he will play with names such as Scott McTominay.

Now, on his Napoli debut versus Fiorentina, the striker has scored with a shot into the bottom right corner that followed a through ball from Leonardo Spinazzola.

With this achievement now reached, attention will arguably turn towards the prospect of the 22-year-old hitting form.

If he can hit form, we could see Hojlund achieve high scoring figures in the coming weeks. But, focus will also arguably be on the striker settling into life in Naples.
