This evening Manchester United managed to secure a slim victory over 18th-place Ipswich Town to see them move from 15th to 14th in the Premier League.
The Red Devils narrowly grabbed the three points in a 3-2 win thanks to goals from defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire, as well as a Samy Morsy own goal.
However, going a goal down in the first four minutes, things looking concerning for Ruben Amorim’s men, with Jaden Philogene capitalising on a defensive error, opening the scoring with an Ipswich lead.
Thankfully Morsy’s own-goal came only 18 minutes later, with United fans only having to wait a further four minutes to see their side take the lead.
Unfortunately for United, their battle became even harder in the 43rd minute as Patrick Dorgu was shown a straight red card.

Patrick Dorgu sent off against Ipswich Town
The left-wing-back put in a contentious challenge on Omari Hutchinson, with VAR being used to review the tackle.
Referee Darren England then came back from the monitors a few moments later, branishing the red card, giving Dorgu his marching orders.
On X, the Premier League’s Match Centre posted about the event, saying: “VAR recommended an on-field review for a possible red card to Dorgu for the challenge on Hutchinson – with the contact deemed serious foul play. Upon review, the referee issued a red card to Dorgu.”
This post confirmed VAR’s involvement and the call from the VAR team to review the challenge.
Speaking about Dorgu’s sending off in the post-match conference, Amorim commented: “Patrick [Dorgu] is ready, he proved that in the last games. Any player can have a mistake like that. He wants to play the ball but maybe he was a little bit rash in how he went for the ball.”
With Dorgu being Amorim’s only available left-wing-back, with Luke Shaw still out injured, the Portuguese manager will likely have to rely on Diogo Dalot to cover the left-side once more during Dorgu’ suspension.
