As the Europa League semi-finals head towards their conclusion, all eyes are on the potential all-English final between Manchester United and Tottenham.

While both teams are firmly in the race to meet in Bilbao on May 21, there are significant concerns over recovery times ahead of what promises to be a physically demanding clash.

Tottenham, who are set to travel to the Arctic Circle for their second leg against Bodo/Glimt, will need to make sure they navigate the tie with a strong performance.

Meanwhile, Manchester United look comfortable after securing a 3-0 advantage against Athletic Bilbao.

The Premier League has already acknowledged the need for adjustments, and Tottenham’s upcoming clash with Aston Villa has been moved forward by two days, as per Matt Law via X.

Initially set for Sunday, May 18, Spurs’ trip to Villa Park will now take place on Friday evening, kicking off at 7:30pm.

United would’ve had just 42 hours and 15 minutes more rest than Spurs if both clubs make it to the final in Bilbao.

This change, which is expected to be confirmed by the Premier League on Tuesday, was made to give Tottenham more time to recover should they make it to the Europa League final.

United will face Chelsea in their final Premier League match on Friday, May 16.

The Premier League had originally scheduled the Chelsea match for Friday to accommodate both United and Chelsea’s involvement in the Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday.

Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, is aware of the challenges his team could face should they make it to the final.

He was questioned about the potential disparity in recovery time following their 1-1 draw at West Ham on Sunday.

Although Spurs have a lead, the final leg in Norway is bound to test their resilience.

With both teams having the same recovery time, the Europa League final between Manchester United and Tottenham promises to be a thrilling and evenly matched contest.
