Portraits in football are arguably often representative of players, clubs and ideals.
Furthermore, they can be seen as senses of pride within fanbases across the country. Manchester United are no different to this with several portraits and murals of United stars being displayed across Manchester and other cities.
Among the names included in these artworks are George Best, Marcus Rashford and former Manchester United woman’s team goalkeeper Mary Earps.
But, sometimes, the artworks that are created both by a club and an individual can be destroyed or vandalized, often by people who are angry with a player or club.
Now, a Manchester United star has had his portrait vandalized.
Before today’s game against Arsenal, the portrait of Alejandro Garnacho was drawn on as seen below.

Garnacho has been at the centre of a transfer saga this summer with the winger being a part of Ruben Amorim’s infamous bomb squad.
His placement in this squad followed the signing of Matheus Cunha which, alongside the signings of Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, has pushed players such as Garnacho to look for moves away from the Red Devils.
Furthermore, the winger has recently looked to be closing in on a move away from Old Trafford after agreeing personal terms in relation to a move to Chelsea.
The news of this agreement can be said to have fuelled the vandalizer’s intent to draw on the Argentine’s portrait.
Alejandro Garnacho didn’t feature in Ruben Amorim’s squad for Manchester United’s opening game of the season against Arsenal potentially fuelling the belief that the United youth academy graduate is moving closer to a move away from Old Trafford.
But, only time will tell in the prospect of Garnacho’s departure from the Red Devils.
