Manchester United have made it a key priority of theirs to target the best young talent in world football to make an impact in the current squad and establish success for years to come.

The recent signings of Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi, Samuel Lusale, Sekou Kone and Diego Leon are all testaments to this, with the summer transfer window looking no different.

Whilst The Red Devils look to have missed out on one of their key long-term midfield targets, with Sverre Halseth Nypan looking set to move to Aston Villa, their sights are firmly elsewhere now.

United are looking at Sunderland, with two of their stars drawing attention from the recruitment team at Old Trafford.

The Black Cats midfield duo of Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham appear to be at the heart of United’s midfield summer haul, with Bellingham recently receiving acknowledgement for his impressive season.

The 19-year-old has been included in the Championship’s Team of the Season as well as winning Young Player of the Season for the league, as reported be Fabrizio Romano.

No doubt this will look to boost Bellingham’s transfer fee come the summer, with a range of clubs looking to sign the talented youngster.

Sunderland are currently in fourth place, so could still qualify for promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.

However if they don’t achieve promotion, it’s highly likely that both Chris Rigg and Jobe Bellingham will depart with United being just one of the top tier clubs looking for their signatures.

United are also up against Chelsea in their pursuit of the talented duo, with Sunderland set to have a battle on their hands to retain the pair this summer.
