Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently leading Beskitas in the Turkish Super Lig.
Last season, the former Norway international helped the side achieve a fourth place finish overall, helping them hold steady in the fourth and fifth positions since arriving in January 2025.
As such, Beskitas are now preparing for a campaign in the UEFA Conference League, having recently beaten Irish side St Patricks 4-1 in the Semi-Finals of the qualifying rounds.
The game was sealed thanks to a Tammy Abraham hattrick, with the former England international joining the side from AS Roma this summer.
Going into the game, Solskjaer singled out 17-year-old Irish striker Mason Melia as one to watch, with the talented teenager set to join Tottenham Hotspur in January.
Speaking about the striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer commented: “I think Tottenham have made a good signing. We know we need to watch him.”
He continued: “You see a mature finisher. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him.
“I always follow the young players when I see them early in their careers. There are a few decent players I played with from Ireland so I have a fond eye for Irish players.”
However, this fond eye of Irish talent could have been put to better use, as BBC Sport has revealed that the Beskitas manager was in line to take over the manager role of the Republic of Ireland national team.
Last year, the former striker was contacted to replace Stephen Kenny in the role, although it ultimately went to Heimir Hallgrimsson.
Speaking about the links, Solskjaer commented: “I had some good conversations [with the FAI over the role].”
He continued: “But, in the end, it didn’t turn out that way and I’m very happy where I am now, we’ll put it that way.”
