Old Trafford experience price hikes

Manchester United have taken a bold decision to increase prices of the item, which won’t come as good news to match-going fans.

Matchdays at Old Trafford have long been about more than just the football, with many fans making the most of the pre- and mid-game rituals inside the stadium.

Over the past two seasons, Manchester United supporters have enjoyed reduced beer prices – a move designed to make the matchday experience more affordable and appealing.

This initiative, introduced after fan feedback, became part of the club’s effort to enhance the atmosphere and encourage more supporters to spend time in the concourse before and after games.

However, that tradition has now hit a stumbling block.

According to the Daily Mail’s report, United have scrapped the stadium beer discount for the 2025–26 season due to a significant rise in operating costs – sparking an immediate backlash from supporters.

Prices have jumped sharply, with 500ml bottles of Carling rising from £3.80 to £4.95, and a pint of Madri increasing from £3.80 to £5.75.

That change sees Old Trafford ranked ninth for the cheapest pint in the Premier League, with the club pointing out via MEN, that prices remain below the league average of around £6.

United also noted that current rates are still lower than they were before the discount scheme was introduced three years ago.

In their statement, the club highlighted a 25-30% rise in food and beverage costs over the past three years, alongside increasing operational expenses, as the main reason for the adjustment.

Even so, many fans feel the increase – coupled with already steep ticket prices – risks turning a matchday at the Theatre of Dreams into an expensive luxury rather than a regular tradition.

For now, the “beer scandal” looks set to be one of the talking points as the new season kicks off.

Not good news for United match-going fans, who will be hoping that the theme of price hikes don’t continue, when watching the team in new stadium.
