Manchester United have made it a priority to sign young players under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s reign.
The average age of senior signings made by United this summer was 23 years old.
However, this does not even include the academy signings made, such as Sekou Kone(18) or the incoming Chido Obi-Martin (16).
Ratcliffe’s approach seems to be the antithesis of the Glazers’ transfer philosophy.
Signing older players with little sell-on value does not help a club in the long-term.
By prioritising signing young players, United’s financial future will be much more sustainable.

Another young star that United signed in the summer transfer window was Samuel Lusale (17).
His signature was snatched from the grasps of Crystal Palace, after he turned down a scholarship with the London club.
United also beat out other clubs in England, Italy and Germany to sign Lusale.
He was recently pictured standing in Old Trafford, holding his new United kit.
Lusale will wear the number seven for United’s U-18 team.

The Slovakian right-winger has appeared for his nation at the U-17 and U-18 level.
Lusale will join a United U-18 side who have had a dominant start to the season.
They sit second in the U-18 Premier League, with a game in hand over league leaders Derby.
United U-18 have won all three of their games, scoring nine goals and conceding only one.
Lusale will certainly be entering a favourable situation at one of the most successful academies in English football history.
