Sir Alex Ferguson absolutely dominated the Premier League with Manchester United, winning 13 Premier League titles in 27 years managing the Red Devils.
Alongside the league titles, Ferguson and his Red Devils won two Champions League, a UEFA Supercup, the EuropaPokal der Pokalsieger, five FA Cups, four English League Cups and ten Charity and Community Shields.
As such, he’s regarded as United’s greatest ever manager, being given Premier League Hall of Fame status, with his team of coaches rising United to the top of world football.
Throughout the Sir Alex Ferguson era, the Scottish manager routinely used stars from United’s world-renowned academy, with players like David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt all coming through the youth ranks.
With such quality coming through the academy, the youth coaches assembled were tasked with helping the talented youngsters achieve their potential to jump up to the senior squad.
Now, one of United’s former youth coaches has parted ways with their most recent club, Middlesbrough, as The Boro announce the parting of ways with Alan Fettis.
Taking to their official site, Middlesbrough have announced: “First team goalkeeping coach Alan Fettis has parted company with the club.”
The statement continued: “The former Northern Ireland international joined the club in the summer of 2022.
“Our Academy head of coaching, Chris Pennock, has temporarily taken on the role until a new appointment is made.
“We would like to place on record our thanks to Alan for all his hard work and dedication, and wish him all the best for the future.”
Alan Fettis joined Middlesbrough from Manchester United back in 2022 after spending eleven years with the Red Devils, starting whilst Sir Alex Ferguson was still at the helm.
Fettis trained the goalkeepers for the under-18s and reserve sides, working under the likes of Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna and Travis Binnion.
