Manchester United’s demanding start to the Premier League season has left fans and pundits debating how Ruben Amorim can steer his squad back towards winning ways.
Summer signing Benjamin Sesko has not yet shown flashes of the clinical edge that United desperately need.
Meanwhile, the club’s hierarchy remain firmly behind Amorim despite a poor set of early results, confident that his long-term plan will steady the ship.
Away from the pitch, one former United hero is about to make a surprise return to the big stage – but this time behind the camera.
According to The Sun, Michael Carrick has landed a brand-new role as a pundit on Prime Video, just three months after being sacked as Middlesbrough manager.

The 44-year-old former Manchester United and England midfielder will make his punditry debut when Tottenham face Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night, marking a fresh chapter after a challenging spell in management.
Michael Carrick took charge of Middlesbrough in October 2022 after Chris Wilder’s exit and initially impressed by guiding the team to a play-off finish in the 2022-23 season.
However, inconsistent performances over the next two campaigns saw Boro finish outside the top six, and the club’s hierarchy made the decision to part ways with him in June 2025.
The midfield maestro spent 12 trophy-laden years at Old Trafford, winning five Premier League titles, three League Cups and lifting the Champions League trophy in 2008.
A product of West Ham United’s academy, Carrick made his name at Tottenham before his £14million switch to United in 2006, where his calm passing and ability to control games made him a key figure.
On the international stage, Carrick earned 34 England caps, representing his country in the 2010 and 2014 World Cups.
After retiring in 2018, he moved into coaching at United under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, even serving as interim manager in 2021, overseeing wins over Villarreal and Arsenal.
Michael Carrick will now join a star-studded team of analysts – including former United team-mate Dimitar Berbatov – for Spurs’ opening Champions League clash.
