As the Manchester United squad are set to return to pre-season training next week, new signing Matheus Cunha has officially been given his shirt number for the Red Devils.
Cunha has been United’s first and only major signing this summer as The Red Devils attempt to rebuild their squad for Ruben Amorim.
As such, United’s recruitment team have been prioritising a remodel of the club’s attack, with Cunha coming in as a proven Premier League talent having excelled with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite United not having European football, Cunha set his heart on a move to Old Trafford, wanting to be a part of Amorim’s project to restore the club back to the top of world football.
With personal terms agreed, United triggered his £62.5 million release clause, agreeing with Wolves to pay in three £20.85 million instalments over two and a half years to soften the financial blow this summer.
However, one part of Cunha’s personal terms to join the club was his request to wear the number 10 shirt, currently worn by Marcus Rashford.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has officially revealed that Matheus Cunha will in fact take on the number 10, with Marcus Rashford having requested to be listed for transfer to leave this summer.
It’s understood that Rashford’s camp were informed of the change and now the England international’s time at Old Trafford is well and truly over.
Despite recent reports claiming that Rashford is looking to give 100% to the pre-season training, this will likely be purely to attract potential suitors and stay in shape for his next club as the handing over of his shirt number paints a massive statment.
