Marcus Rashford has been a Barcelona player for a matter of hours, yet already his social media has felt the effect of the move.
Earlier today, Barcelona unveiled their new star, taking Rashford on a season-long loan with an option to buy for £26 million plus bonuses to take the full sum to around £30 million.
In a statement revealing the attacker, Barcelona announced: “FC Barcelona and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Marcus Rashford until 30 June 2026. The agreement also establishes an option to buy the English forward.
“The player have signed his contract as a Barça player this afternoon in at a private meeting in the presence of the FC Barcelona president, Joan Laporta; the director of the Football Area, and other Board members.”
The England international has already met his new teammates as well, and been handed his new shirt number, taking on the number 14, following in Thierry Henry’s footsteps when he arrived from the Premier League.
Speaking as a Barca player for the first time, Rashford commented: “Barcelona is a club where people’s dreams come true”.
He continues: “What the club stands for means a lot to me as well and it feels like I’m at home, and this is a big factor in my choice. I feel I’m joining a family”.
Well, if that’s the case then his family is growing, as Warmup has revealed on Instagram that Rashford’s move to the LaLiga champions has earned him an extra 1.6 million followers on Instagram, rising from 17.2 million last week, to 18.8 million today.
As such, Barca may well also feel the benefits of this impressive following with his shirt now on the shelves ready for fans.
