In the 2003/04 Champions League Round of 16, Manchester United faced Porto again in a dramatic two-legged tie.

United’s lineup in the first leg included current assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, while Cristiano Ronaldo made an appearance off the bench in his debut season with the club.

Porto won the first leg 2-1 in Portugal, with Roy Keane being sent off late in the match, ruling him out of the return leg at Old Trafford.

In the second leg, United took the lead after 30 minutes through a Paul Scholes goal, putting them on course to progress.

However, in the dying moments of the game, Porto’s Costinha scored a crucial equaliser, securing a 1-1 draw and sending Porto through to the quarter-finals on aggregate.
