This weekend, Manchester United U16 competed in the National Tournament, hosted by the Premier League.
28 teams across Category 1 and Premier League academies fight for the National Tournament trophy.
The teams are drawn into seven groups of four, with Stoke, Reading and Norwich in Group C with United.
After the group stage, the seven group winners and the best overall runner-up advance to the National Tournament quarter-finals.
The next-best eight teams progress to the National Shield quarter-finals.

United finished second in their group with six points and +1 goal difference.
They were behind Norwich, who finished with the same number of points but a +3 goal difference.
In Group F, Chelsea advanced as the best runner up with the same record as Norwich.
Therefore, United joined seven other teams to compete in the National Shield quarter-finals.
They faced Arsenal yesterday and won 5-3 on penalties, after the game ended 1-1 at full-time.
This morning, United won their semi-final matchup against Brighton 1-0.
In the other semi-final match, Fulham beat Liverpool on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

In the final, United vs Fulham also ended in a draw with no goals being scored by either side.
However, Manchester United U16 won 5-4 on penalties and were crowned National Shield winners.
They would have preferred to bring the National Tournament trophy back to Carrington but their opening game set them back.
United begun the weekend with a 4-1 loss to Norwich, which hurt their goal difference greatly.
Norwich made it to the final but lost on penalties to Middlesbrough.
Some of United’s players are as young as 14, such as Wayne Rooney’s son Kai.
They will have another opportunity to win the National Tournament next year and will hope to continue United’s history of success at their academy.
