Manchester United have had bad luck with injuries for some time now, with a new update coming in for one of their strikers.

Last season was heavily impacted by the extent of injuries faced by Erik ten Hag’s side, whilst a run of further injuries was experienced in the preseason.

Unfortunately for ten Hag, new signing Leny Yoro and striker Rasmus Hojlund suffered injuries in the opening game of United’s pre-season tour of the starts, making them miss the beginning of the Premier League campaign.

The pre-season also claimed Victor Lindelof, whilst Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw were still injured from last season.

The start of the season also claimed Mason Mount, with the midfielder and Hojlund returning against FC Twente this week.

However, it’s not just United’s retained stars that are suffering with injuries, with one of their loan stars also being struck with injury issues.

Wigan Athletic boss Shaun Maloney has recently explained that Joe Hugill was left out of their recent game against Stevenage on Tuesday night due to a dead leg.

The Wigan manager told  Wigan Today: “We’ll find out on Friday about Joe, hopefully it’s not too bad. He didn’t train after Lincoln when he came off with a dead leg. It’s only a normal dead leg, but these things can take time.”

Hugill is on Loan with Wigan, after joining them this summer to support his further development. So far the striker has grabbed three goals in eight games.

The 20-year-old has risen through the ranks of the United academy, being promoted to the senior team, with loan spells at Burton Albion and Altringham last season.

This weekend will see Maloney’s men take on Exeter City, with Hugill hoping to be ready enough to get back into the squad.
