While a lot of talk has been around Manchester United’s summer activity this window, plenty of events have also been taking place off-the-pitch too.
The culture around the club has certainly become more positive since a woeful season for the Men’s team.
The mood around the club is fresh, going into the new season.
And now, there’s further good news – this time, in relation to a player from the Women’s team.
Ella Toone has enjoyed a summer to remember, adding yet another highlight to her career and personal life.
Fresh from helping England secure Euro 2025 glory, the Manchester United midfielder has been in celebratory spirits both on and off the pitch.
Her performances for club and country have cemented her status as a fan favourite, with the 24-year-old continuing to inspire supporters across the game.
Now, as reported on Manchester United’s official website, Toone has announced her engagement to partner Joe Bunney via Instagram.
After three years together, Bunney proposed during the couple’s holiday in Ibiza, with Toone sharing images of the special moment online.
One photo showed Bunney getting down on one knee in front of a heart made of roses surrounding the words “Will you marry me?”
While another captured the pair smiling with champagne alongside Bunney’s son, Arlo.
Her United teammates were quick to send messages of support ahead of their pre-season friendly with Manchester City.
Melvine Malard commented, “You two are so beautiful,” while captain Maya Le Tissier shared a series of emojis and Millie Turner called it “the best news in the world.”
Dame Kelly Holmes and TV personality Vick Hope were among other famous faces to congratulate the couple.
Toone’s announcement rounds off an unforgettable few weeks, marking the start of a new chapter in her personal life while continuing to shine in her football career.
