Manchester United have decide to keep two members of Erik ten Hag’s coaches amid the recent management changes.
Ten Hag was close to dismissal at the end of last season. The United board decided to stand by him instead, building a new team of coaches to help him get the squad back on track.
The Red Devils have overhauled the coaching team in a move which dismissed four of the existing backroom team.
United drafted in Ruud van Nistelrooy was drafted in along with Rene Hake from Go Ahead Eagles and Jelle ten Rouwelaar from Ajax. Set-piece coach Andreas Georgson was also brought in from Lillestrom.
However, with Ruben Amorim now in post, having brought some of his team from Sporting, most of the existing coaches have been sacked.

However, United have made the decision to keep former United midfielder Darren Fletcher, and new hiring Andreas Georgson.
Manchester United include Fletcher and Georgson in Amorim’s team
Speaking with Skanesport this week, Georgson explained his role in Amorim’s team. The 42-year-old commented: “I am responsible for fixed situations, individual development and drive the work with our identity as a team together with the head coach.”
He continued: “The job was perfect, but the timing was bad. My first special competence is set pieces and throw-ins and that is also what we have prioritised during the first period. That’s where I have a unique knowledge bank and a unique method, which has worked in all clubs.
“Over time, we have also laid the foundations for the individual development programme and our identity as a team, and slowly I have also started those processes, which is very fun.
“Few think it’s fun to practice, but everyone knows that a third of goals are scored on set pieces. I have to be clear to the players. ‘Less is more’ is often true.
“I’d rather practice fixed situations with full attention for ten minutes than for two hours without commitment, these are details that can statistically decide five table positions up or down.”
Fletcher on the other hand has been with the club in a coaching capacity since 2020. Across the four years, the Scotland international has held several different roles. Firstly Fletcher was assistant manager to the youth and then senior squad, before becoming technical director.
Now, the former midfielder holds the position of technical coach, advising on the promotion of academy stars.
However, Fletcher now faces a three match ban from his behaviours in United’s game with Brentford at Old Trafford.
Fletcher verbally abused match officials following their decision to send Matthijs de Ligt off the pitch. The centre-back needed his head wound treated, however play continued, resulting in a Brentford goal.
Whilst the 40-year-old will not be able to attend the next few games, his work at Carrington can still continue, bridging the gap between the academy and the first-squad.
