Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for a fee worth £65 million plus an additional £6 million in performance-based add-ons.

Mbeumo is expected to feature in the number ten role under Ruben Amorim.

After scoring 20 Premier League goals last season, there is growing optimism that he can help solve some of United’s attacking problems, especially when linking up with fellow new signing Matheus Cunha.

With United set to face West Ham United in their opening fixture of the Premier League Summer Series this summer, there had been hope among supporters that Mbeumo would make his unofficial debut and be seen in United colours for the first time.

However, the club has confirmed that Mbeumo has been left out of the squad to face the Hammers.

According to the Manchester United website, Bryan Mbeumo is slightly behind the rest of the Manchester United squad in terms of preparation and is to be eased into the squad, not match fit as of yet.

Ruben Amorim is determined to prevent injuries this season and is placing a strong emphasis on keeping players fit and fully ready for the start of the campaign.

Although fans were eager to see Mbeumo make his debut, Amorim has opted for the safe approach, ensuring that the new signing builds up his fitness properly in training before stepping onto the pitch.

Mbeumo is still expected to feature later in the Premier League Summer Series.

United fans will still be excited for the upcoming match against West Ham, with Matheus Cunha set to start in the front three alongside Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes, offering a glimpse of the new attacking structure.

Bryan Mbeumo will certainly be seen plenty in United colours this season, and Amorim is wisely taking the time to get him up to full speed so that supporters can witness the very best of what the former Brentford star has to offer.
