Manchester United have sacked Erik ten Hag, effective immediately.
After two years at the club, the Dutchman has been relieved of his duties as United sit 14th in the Premier League.
He will be replaced by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who will become interim manager.
The rest of United’s staff will remain at the club, while United search for a permanent managerial candidate.

Moments after his sacking, United released an official club statement detailing the decision.
The statement read: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.
“Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.’

The decision to hand Ruud van Nistelrooy interim charge of the team is something that we exclusively revealed earlier this month.
Ten Hag’s sacking comes after a 2-1 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium yesterday.
United have endured their worst start to a Premier League season ever and are winless in Europe.
In nine league games, they have won three, drawn two and lost four.
In the Europa League, United have drawn all three of their games and lie 21st in the table.
Despite this shocking news, the players will quickly have to turn their attention to Wednesday’s League cup game.
They face Leicester at Old Trafford and will have just two days to prepare for their first game under Van Nistelrooy.
