Ruben Amorim has just received a massive blow to his squad selection in the form of Lisandro Martinez and his recent injury scare.
The Argentine defender was stretchered off in the 82nd minute of Manchester United’s loss to Crystal Palace this weekend.
Initially looking like an issue with his knee, the centre-back was seen crying as he was supported off the pitch by the medical team.
Speaking after the game, Amorim commented: “Licha is really important for us.”
He continued: “Not just as a football player but as a character, especially in this hard moment. Now it’s time to help Licha like he’s doing for so long.
“I think it’s a bad situation. Let’s wait to assess things with the doctor but I think it’s a serious situation.”

Lisandro Martinez ruled out for the rest of the season
Now, the injury has been confirmed as a torn cruciate ligament by Argentine reporter Gaston Edul.
This is a huge issue for Amorim with most cruciate ligament injuries ruling players out for between eight and twelve months, meaning he could miss the rest of the year, let alone season.
This is a breaking story with more to follow.
