Since the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS as minority shareholders in 2022, Manchester United have seen extensive change.

The deal that saw INEOS arrive also saw them take control over sporting operations, and numerous job cuts have followed.

Around 250 staff members were made redundant last year, before the club announced they would cut 200 more jobs in February.

And in April, CentreDevils exclusively revealed that 150 more staff would lose their jobs.

The cuts are part of an effort to ease the weight of debt the club is under, having lost more than £300m over the past three years.

The club have also looked to introduce further data analysis into their operations, making the intriguing decision to hire a data science consultant from the INEOS co-owned Mercedes F1 team.

And the club are looking for a new first team operations manager, according to a job posting on LinkedIn.

The post describes the role as playing “a critical role in creating a world-class football environment, driving operational excellence and optimising performance support services.”

Among the key responsibilities listed, the post describes overseeing “logistical operations at the Carrington Training Complex, ensuring a world-class training environment” and leading “matchday logistics coordination, ensuring all operational aspects from travel to equipment and medical team alignment are executed flawlessly.”

Any new hire will be required to collaborate with the academy and women’s team along with the men’s first team, “ensuring alignment and consistency across all football operations within the club.”

While it is peculiar to see such a key role at a club at the level of Manchester United advertised for on social media, the role does demand “proven experience in a football operations role within a top-tier club or national team.”
