Manchester United have a whole host of exciting young stars in their ranks right now.
The pre-season gave a lot of United’s new academy graduates that chance to step up and shine, with a number of the first team squad on international duties with the Copa America and Euro 2024, or out injured.
Erik ten Hag chose 12 of his academy graduates to join them in the States for the pre-season tour, which showed off the potential of the next class of Red Devils.
Some notable mentions in this include defender Harry Amass and midfielder Toby Collyer who have really impressed ten Hag, so much so it was anticipated that they could have been called up for the senior squad in United’s Community shield game vs Manchester City.

Ten Hag has considerable praise for Collyer, who the club want to really focus on developing into their ideal no6, not wanting any signings to hinder his progress.
However, it’s another one of the young Red Devils who has now impressed playing over in the Netherlands.
James Scanlon wins individual award
The Manchester United Under-19s side have recently travelled to the Netherlands to compete in the Otten Innovation Cup.
The tournament took place in Eindhoven and has youth teams from the likes of United, Paris Saint-Germain, PSV Eindhoven, Anderlecht and an number of other clubs.
Manchester United advanced to the quarter-finals of the tournament but were knocked out following a 1-0 defeat by the eventual champions, PSV Eindhoven, who also hosted the event.
The tournament stood out for its ‘innovative rules’, such as substituting throw-ins with ‘kick-ins’ and permitting players to pass free-kicks to themselves.
At the end of the tournament, PSV issued a number of awards to the stars that stood out, with United’s James Scanlon doing enough to pick one up.
Scanlon was given the award for “best striker” having impressed throughout the competition.
The 17-year-old appeared to be happy to be back in his attacking role after having to cover the right-back position throughout the pre-season tour, showing the Red Devils’ desperation to cover the position.
Scanlon was vital in United’s under-18s season last year, grabbing eight goals and three assists in 12 league matches, helping the side secure three trophies.
